Can You Rent a Motorcycle in Europe from Ljubljana? Inside Our Introductory Ride

It’s a Saturday morning at the Adriatic Moto Tours garage, and the place is buzzing with energy. The AMT team and guides are gearing up for one of the most anticipated events of the year — the AMT Introductory Ride, now a legendary two-day tradition.
Can You Rent a Motorcycle in Europe from Ljubljana? Inside Our Introductory Ride

The main goal? To break in 30 brand-new motorcycles fresh from the factory and properly test the latest models before the season begins.

At the same time, it’s the perfect opportunity to spend two great days riding with like-minded people, exchanging stories, and getting into the rhythm of a new riding season.

Before hitting the road, everyone had two practical tasks to master: changing brake discs and tightening the chain. These are among the most common mechanical tasks our guides deal with on tour. For some, it was second nature — for others, a valuable hands-on learning experience.

Over the two days, we rode an impressive lineup of new machines: BMW R 1300 RT, R 1300 GS, R 1300 GSA, F 900 GS, and F 800 GS. Alongside the German engineering, we also tested several Asian models, including the Honda Africa Twin, Suzuki V-Strom, and a new addition to our fleet — the CFMOTO 800MT Explore, our first Chinese motorcycle.

What our guides say about the new models:

Matej Malovrh – BMW R 1300 RT
“Phenomenal bike! I was never a big fan of RTs, but I really loved the new 1300. Great riding position, it practically drops into corners by itself. Amazing power and handling. I’d take it on a tour anytime!”

Anže Colja – BMW F 900 GS
“The 900 GS truly deserves the name Gelände/Straße. Even with a 21-inch front wheel, corner entry is stable and controlled. The engine is punchy enough to make you forget about its bigger brother.”

Milko Mati – CFMOTO 800MT Explore
“This was the biggest positive surprise of the Intro Ride. The CFMOTO was the most requested bike — everyone wanted to try it. And it delivered. Responsive, flexible engine, excellent quick shifter, very comfortable, and great-looking. The large screen with phone connectivity is a great bonus. Incredible value for money.”

We also had two passengers on the ride, Kristine and Martina from the office, who provided valuable feedback from the pillion perspective. According to them, the most comfortable bikes for two-up riding are the larger BMW models — GS, GSA, and RT. The CFMOTO 800MT and BMW F 800 GS also performed well, while the Suzuki V-Strom 650 held its own.

We spent two beautiful days riding through northeastern Slovenia, starting in Ljubljana — the capital of Slovenia and the home base of Adriatic Moto Tours.

If you’re considering motorcycle tours in Europe, this is where it all begins. From guided and self-guided tours to flexible options if you prefer to rent a motorcycle in Europe, we’ve got everything ready for the season ahead.
