When a biker asks “What’s your favorite place to ride?” my answer is clear: Sardinia. An island, ‘just’ an overnight ferry away from Italy, was built for riders. The roads are twisted like a corkscrew, the surface, made from local rock, makes the tires stick as if you’re on a racetrack and then, watch out, most of the corners are slightly inclined on the inner side of the curve which makes a dynamic rider the happiest person on the planet. What kind of roads are we talking about? You name it: seaside sweepers, tight mountain corners (yup, Sardinia has mountains!), and mid-speed rhythm inland sections that make you dance on the asphalt. I remember destroying my boots on a brand new F700GS I was breaking in once… Oops!

It wouldn’t be fair not to shortly mention the rest of Sardinia’s menu: delicious (Italian or better just - Mediterranean) cuisine and wines, fantastic beaches (swimmers and freedivers should go there in autumn, when the sea is still warm) while history and architecture enthusiasts will find something for their pleasure, too. And, ah, the climate in spring and autumn is just perfect. By the time of an afternoon shower, you’ll be already waiting for your seafood meal, enjoying a cold ‘birra’, watching your bike parked in between your hotel and the Ocean …
